The Ministry of Labour - Employer Services run an expo each year, hoping to spread the word about the types of post-secondary opportunities in the Whitecourt, Alberta area. When I joined, the hope was to raise awareness of the event and encourage more local students and graduates to attend. We exceeded our hopes and the event in 2017 and 2018 was full to capacity! To generate interest I focused on Snapchat and Facebook to reach the target demographics and ran two Facebook and Snapchat contests; one leading up to the event and one during the event. I also created and managed a website geared to exhibitors and sponsors and optimized with relevant information.
Highlight: Students were made aware of new opportunities and hiring businesses left the expo with new hires!
